Styles that Add a Touch of Romance

Most women have a love/hate relationship with their hair. Okay, truth be told, it's mostly a "please be nice to me today" relationship.

Did you know that a survey conducted by Tressemme revealed that the average woman spends $50,000 on her hair over the course of her lifetime? That's a lot of love! Oh, and this is fun: 54 percent of women surveyed claim that they got madder at their hair sometime during the previous month than they did at their man.

Whether or not you're romancing a partner as you move toward Valentine's Day, there's a good chance you'll be wooing your hair. We've put a few ideas together so that you can enjoy the day while looking your very best.

Short Hair:

Sleek. There's a retro feel to a short style that's been put in its place by soothing cream. Allow the tiny fringes to frame your face.

Tousled. Show the world that you're a free spirit by messing it up and wearing it wild. Add a little clay for volume.

Curly. Nothing about short hair prevents you from creating whimsical curls. If you have naturally curly hair, rock it. If you need a little help, use a tiny ¼ inch barreled curling iron to make soft curls all over.

Accessorized. Here's the deal with short hair: people don't expect you to you to play it up with accessories. Really, there's something very bold about "fancifying" your short hair with a quirky headband or unusual hairpin. If you haven't taken a look at hair accessories in a while, now is the time to do so. There is an amazing array out there - from sleek and sophisticated to straight-up funky.

Medium Length:

Side-Swept. If you have bangs, sweep them gently to the side. There are few things flirtier than playing peek-a-boo with one eye.

Soft Updo. Gather your hair into a loose bun and accessorize with a lovely hair pin.
Half Updo. Gently pile your hair behind your head, leaving softly curled tendrils to fall around your face.

Sleek and Shiny. Straight iron your hair board-straight and add a dab of oil for shine.

Preppy. If you're in the mood to flash your inner prep, curl the ends of your hair up and slap on a headband.

Long:

Curls, Curls, and More Curls: Whether they're natural or you have to create them with hot curlers and a curling iron, there are few looks sexier than long, soft curls. Make sure to freeze them into place with a high quality hair spray.

Twists. Yes, it's as easy as it sounds. Twist the side sections of your hair into loose twists and pull them together at the back of your head. An ornate barrette will dress the look up.

Swirl. Wear your long hair straight, but curl the bottom two inches. It's fast, easy, and sexy.

Flower Power. Romance and flowers go together like Romeo and Juliet. Really, it's a proven fact. Attach fresh daisies to a headband and wear it with attitude. In fact, if you can float on air, that would be a nice touch.
